everybody's working for the weekend

Mom and Dad have been quite busy in the second bedroom during the week. Crown moulding is just about done (had to go buy a few more feet today) and two coats of sealer have been placed on the floor. Now we just need to put in the baseboards, put one last coat of sealer on the floor and the room will be ready for occupants!

We also decided today that the living room was ready for painting. Well, nothing makes you realize how much it's NOT ready until you try to start. We painted the ceiling with no problems, but when taking off the old, junky existing base boards, in some places, parts of the wall came with it. And, we realized there were a few bad spots on the wall, so with those two things, there was some mudding that needed to happen. Then, we decided to keep the existing casings around the windows, but they looked like they'd been painted once a year since this house was built in 1928. So, we decided to apply paint remover and start scraping. Not exactly the most fun way to spend a beautiful summer afternoon. But, take a look, you can see all the colors on the windowframes.

Look how pathetic the living room looks right now...
